SmartGlobe Review: A Fun New Way For Kids To Travel The World Right From Home

Oh, please share this!

My 7-year-old is always starving to learn. She loves to read, prefers to spend her free time at the library and Barnes & Noble, and is always asking questions. We try to find toys that are educational and fun and with the Oregon Scientific SmartGlobe, we definitely found exactly what we were looking for!

It should be noted that I was surprised at how much I’ve learned using our new SmartGlobe with my daughter.

The Oregon Scientific SmartGlobe is fun learning for kids of all ages

The SmartGlobe features over 20,000 fun facts, has over 220 countries that kids and adults can explore, and includes 42 games that can be played to learn more about the world around us!

You can even download a free app on your smart device to access 500 interactive AR features on the globe. Kids can even use the app to take a photo of themselves next to famous landmarks to share with friends and family on social media.

SmartGlobe teaches kids about their world, our solar system, and the Earth's core

For even more options to explore, the globe can be removed from the base and opened so that kids can explore the Earth’s core as well as our own solar system. Each SmartGlobe comes with the globe, stand, Bluetooth pen, and Micro-USB charging cable.

With the Oregon Scientific SmartGlobe, kids can learn more about amazing facts, local currency, population, and more

Even without using the free downloadable AR app, kids can have a ton of fun with the SmartGlobe. They can learn:
  • Country name
  • Native language
  • National anthem
  • History
  • Geography
  • Amazing facts
  • Local currency
  • Population
  • Unique features and so much more!

I love how the content can be tailored to 3 different age groups so it’s a toy that grows with your child. The SmartPen – which has volume control, parents – looks like a space shuttle and is rechargeable. There is also a drawer that can be removed from the base so that kids can learn about the United States. It’s also a stand for the SmartGlobe when it’s removed from the base and opened.

I wish that this existed when I was younger; I might not be so terrible at geography!

The retail price for the Oregon Scientific SG338R SmartGlobe AR is $149.99 on Amazon. It’s really not a bad price considering the durability of the globe as well as the capabilities to grow with your child.
