Anyone that has attended a Getting Gorgeous event will tell you, Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney can organize a party that quickly becomes the talk of the blogosphere. The duo created Getting Gorgeous to create an online- and events-based platform to connect top tier bloggers with prominent lifestyle brands, as per their site.
It’s not all makeup and fashion. A select handful of carefully chosen parenting, lifestyle, fashion, and beauty bloggers are invited to connect with leading brands and develop relationships and ambassadorships that go far beyond the fun-filled day in New York.
Of course, there are a few chances to get pampered by, and meet with, reps from the beauty world. The major event sponsor of Getting Gorgeous this year was Restylane Silk; they offered bloggers who wanted to participate a quick in-house lip enhancement and for others, a makeup touch up after walking in the summer heat. Staci, editor of the family lifestyle blog November Sunflower, opted for a quick makeup touch up.
I’m not ashamed to say, one of my favorite brands represented at this year’s Getting Gorgeous was a new product called Cocktail Caviar. The burstable pearls are filled with naturally flavored spirits that can be served frozen in a cocktail or served by itself for a fun pop of alcohol in your mouth.
Cocktail Caviar comes in a variety of flavors with more coming soon, but at Getting Gorgeous, we got to try Blueberry and Peach – both of which were delicious!
The Backyard Food Company provided a delicious little snack while we made our way though the sponsors. A recent winner of the Best Gourmet Condiment from Rhode Island Monthly, this local company is about as natural as it gets and just as delicious. Check out their line of products and be sure to request them from your local grocer!
At 10% ABV, on Facebook has some kick to it, for sure, but still has a smooth flavor that garnered this beer a 95 rating from Beer Advocate and a “Holy crap, that’s good!” from this blogger.
The on Facebook booth was a fun, and very popular, addition to Getting Gorgeous. Select a bracelet, select your beads and select your clasp. They’re totally customizable and very pretty. Mine featured a Turquoise and Plum leather bracelet with the Planet Bead and their silver Lace Lock. I’ve not taken it off since I left New York.
Did you know that one out of every 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra? I am, apparently. And several of the other ladies that visited with on Facebook while at Getting Gorgeous were, too. Not only did we get fitted correctly, but we were able to learn about new bras they’re marketing and we chose one to take home. We also received exclusive discounts on future purchases – you know, for bras that ARE actually our size.
If you’ve not yet been invited to a Getting Gorgeous event, it’s highly recommended. This was my second and I enjoy going every time. It’s a great way to meet up with friends, meet new ones, and connect with some of the best beauty, lifestyle and parenting brands in the country.
