Ask anyone in my family what my dad’s specialty dishes are and every single person will tell you – his mouth-watering lasagna and his Cheesy Chili Bean Dip. I can’t tell you how the tradition started because it’s been requested for so many holidays for so many years. On Thanksgiving, he makes two pans; one for the family, and one for the fridge so we can have our own pan later.

It’s not difficult to see why once you taste it. It’s a no-brainer for him because it’s super easy to make. I love it, but what I don’t love is the Satan’s-fire-in-my-belly feeling whenever I eat it; and I always eat it, despite knowing what it does to me. I think we all have a dish like that, right?

Cheesy Chili Bean Dip

After I had kids, heartburn became a far more regular occurrence for me. Soda, alcohol, chocolate, garlic, even some fruits, and yes, dad’s bean dip – all cause me heartburn. What else do these foods have in common? Most of them, if not all, are traditionally part of holiday celebrations.

Nexium at Walgreens

A few years ago, when I had an ulcer developing, my doctor recommended Nexium® 24HR 42 ct. Tablets (though not a treatment for ulcers). I was so excited to partner with them on this post because Nexium® 24HR is a product I use because just one pill a day provides all-day, all-night protection from frequent heartburn, no matter what triggers it.*

This means that I’m protected from heartburn so I can savor the best of the Holidays – even my dad’s amazing Cheesy Chili Bean Dip!

Dad’s Cheesy Chili Bean Dip Recipe

Thanks to my dad, I have his recipe to share so you can see why this bean dip is the most requested dish to share during the holidays!

In a bowl, mix together browned ground beef, a packet of taco seasoning, a can of your favorite chili, a can of refried beans, and a jar of taco sauce.

Mix well and pour into a pan. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bake at 375 degrees until cheese is melted and bubbling.

You guys, it’s THAT easy. My dad is an uber genius!

[yumprint-recipe id=’37’]I love this recipe because it’s easy to make and everyone really loves it. Mostly, I love that with a quick stop at Walgreens for Nexium® 24HR 42ct Tablets, I can enjoy dad’s bean dip, a glass of wine, chocolate dessert, and other heartburn-inducing foods without worrying about heartburn. Nexium® 24HR makes heartburn history!

  • It does sound good and as is a heartburner for sure. I’m going to try it- with one change- I’m going to make sure all ingredients are ‘gluten free’. I discovered that anything with gluten does make me gas up!!
The changes I’ll make: read labels! (I also avoid anything soy related!-gluten free might NOT be soy free!)
The ‘flags’ in your recipe that I’ll watch include – taco mix (there is at least one brand that makes a gluten free one); shredded cheese (some have something on them that prevent caking, but makes the cheese NOT gluten free! I’ll get a block of cheese and grate it!); read labels on sauces to make sure no soy!; I’ll read labels on the chillibeans etc but don’t expect surprises there!
If it is a dip- again I’ll read labels! I’ll look for crackers or chips that eliminate gluten (anything with wheat or flour from wheat-there are other sources!) and for me, soy!!

  • As long as the Nexium is available, put an array of different hot sauce bottles out with this dish. Some like it hot! It also makes it more fun
