As Mom Sees It Is Headed To L.A. For A Marvel-ous Meeting With A ‘Strange’ Doctor! #DoctorStrangeEvent

My eighth trip to L.A. with Disney will, by far, be the strangest ever.

I’m so punny.

This geek is headed to Los Angeles to preview the newest Marvel movie – the second in the MCU Phase 3 – Doctor Strange! Apparently, there’s other stuff that will occur while I’m there, but I’m not sure I’ve had a chance to really process this. Let’s do it together, shall we?

The Main Event: Marvel’s Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange will, no doubt, be unlike any other Marvel movie thus far and for many reasons.

Doctor Strange Interviews

First, original Doctor Strange comic book illustrator Steve Ditko’s mind-bending imagery heavily influenced how the film’s special effects and imagery were created. The concept of alternate dimensions and parallel universes is new to MCU and it’s been rumored that some of that will bleed into future Marvel films, as well.

Second, this is the first Marvel film that will deal with magic and the mystic arts. In one of the trailers, we see Wong tell Strange, “The Avengers protect the world from physical dangers; we safeguard it against more mystical threats.” This could also be a foreshadow to a future team-up between the Avengers and Strange, creating much more excitement around this film.

Doctor Strange also has a stunning, all-star cast, including Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange himself.

I’ll also be interviewing the cast, including Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams (The Night Nurse “Christine Palmer”), Tilda Swinton (“The Ancient One”), Mads Mikkelsen (“Kaecilius”), Benedict Wong (“Wong”) and Director Scott Derrickson. Derrickson has traditionally been at the helm of films in the horror genre, so I’m thrilled to see what he has in store for the MCU!

Finding Dory… In A Pumpkin?

My pumpkin carving skills will be put to the test when we talk with award winning set designer and costume designer Joseph Yakovetic. He is Disney’s own Master Pumpkin Carver and has carved pumpkins for Disneyland’s Big Thunder Ranch and DownTown Disney.

By the look of his pumpkins, I could be way out of my league.

We’ll be celebrating the Blu-Ray/Digital HD release of Disney’s Finding Dory (available on Digital HD on 10/25 and Blu-ray on 11/15) so expect some super cute, albeit very fishy, pumpkin carving. Please be sure to follow along on social media with the hashtag #FindingDoryBluRay and share our tweets, featuring sadly carved pumpkins.

I Love Ben, Ben Loves Lauren

Admit it, we all loved Ben.

Remember Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell from season 20 of “The Bachelor”? We’ve all wondered what happens after the final rose is handed out and normal life takes over.

Will The Bachelor's Ben and Lauren live Happily Ever After?

We’ll get to screen an episode of  Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?and we’ll get to interview Ben and Lauren!

Their new show will follow the happy couple as they prepare to walk down the aisle and begin their brand-new life together while navigating the real world after the exotic dates and fantasy suites ended.

You can watch “Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After” on Freeform (formerly ABC Family) Tuesdays at 8/7c. You can catch exclusive from our interview on our site and by following hashtag #BenAndLaurenEvent.

Have You Heard Of MECH-X4?

Don’t worry, I haven’t, either – but you will!

MECH-X4 is a brand new show on Disney XD that has already been renewed for a second season, even before the first has premiered!

It will premier on both Disney Channel and Disney XD on Saturday, November 12 at 8 PM EDT.

The show follows a Bay City High freshman who discovers he is a “technopath.” This means he has the extraordinary ability to control technology with his mind.

His superpower mysteriously awakens a 150-foot robot known as MECH-X4, and Ryan can command its every move. When another monster suddenly begins to attack Bay City High, Ryan recruits his two best friends and older brother to help him operate the robot’s high-tech defense system while he pilots MECH-X4. This team of unlikely heroes quickly must learn to work together under dire circumstances in order to save their school — and ultimately the world.
