Early this morning, Disney released the very first teaser trailer for Tim Burton’s new live-action remake of Dumbo, coming to theaters in March 2019.
Burton’s version of “Dumbo” looks to expand on the classic tale of how differences can sometimes make us special.
Starring as circus owner Max Medici is Danny DeVito alongside Colin Farrell as former star Holt Farrier. Farrier’s children are Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) who care for the newborn elephant born with unusually oversized ears. The family fears that the elephant’s ears could bring ruin to an already struggling circus.
When the family and Medici discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus begins to benefit from the elephant’s new abilities. A questionable V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) recruits the new young circus star for his own money-making venture, Dreamland. But, is Dreamland everything Vandevere promises it will be?
The trailer features Norwegian pop star Aurora singing the original film’s signature tune, Baby Mine, and features clips of Dreamland and our beloved Dumbo flying for the first time. And, yes, we even see the pink elephants!
Dumbo is one of a few of Disney’s planned feature adaptations of their classic animations. Lion King, Aladdin, and Mulan are currently in various stages of production.
