I do it all the time. I realize that as my husband walks in the door, I have no idea what to cook for dinner. Luckily, I work from home. Unluckily, I work from home. While I’m literally feet from my own stove, my job is still a job and I’m just as busy as anyone else. I’m also in need of help for dinner creativity just as much as any other parent.
I usually search for meals that take less than an hour, but lately to save money, I’ve been looking for recipes that have 6 ingredients or less. We made these amazing 4 ingredient Gingered Pork Chops the other day and most of the ingredients were – are you ready for this? – at my local Rite Aid. BOOM!
I love the rich flavor of DR PEPPER; it’s one of my favorite beverages. So imagine that sweetness in a recipe. People cook with soda all the time, so this is a great recipe that really adds a ‘pop’ of flavor (see what I did there?) to pork, which is a really bland meat.
Gingered Pork Chops
Sprinkle 6 smoked pork chops with salt and pepper. In a pan, brown pork chops lightly. Remove them once they’re browned and put them into a baking pan.
In the pan in which the pork chops were browned, add 3/4 cup Dr Pepper with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of ginger.
Pour over chops. Bake at 350° F about one hour, basting occasionally.
How easy is that. It takes just minutes to prepare and the taste is fantastic!
