Wine. It’s the one thing I love more than my kids. I’m kidding, of course! But I do like to enjoy an occasional glass of wine. If I can find a good wine under $20, it’s like a little victory.
I was excited to learn about a California wine company called CalNaturale that is the first and only wine company that makes their wine from certified organically-grown grapes and is packaged in an environmentally-friendly Tetra Pak container. I’m especially excited about the container, but I’ll tell you about that in just a moment.
First, let me tell you about their Cabernet Sauvignon. I’m not a wine expert. I can’t tell you about ‘body’ or ‘hints of’ anything; I can only tell you what I like and what tastes good. I will share with you that CalNaturale’s Cabernet Sauvignon has been awarded six gold medal awards in wine competitions across the world. Both their Cabernet Sauvignon and their 2009 Vintage Chardonnay were awarded silver medals at the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition – the largest in the U.S.
Even if awards mean nothing to you, the taste will – it’s good wine. Really good. And not just good-for-being-an-organically-grown-wine good. It’s I-would-buy-this-again good. And, since the award-winning wines are $6.99 (500 mL) or $12.99 (1L), it doesn’t hurt that it’s affordable, either.
Remember that packaging I was so excited about? Let me tell you why. Take a look at the photo. Do you see that? It’s not glass; completely portable. The benefit? Throw it in your cooler, ladies! There will be no broken glass but instead, a nicely chilled container of wine that serves several (or just one really drunk, wine lovin’ lady).
